About

Ad Hoc Marine Designs Ltd. is a design company with a pedigree forged in the companies such as:  Babcock Marine (formerly Marineteknik), FBM Marine, Fairey Marine, Brooke Marine and Cheverton Work Boats. As such the technical background is shipyard based and this provides the unique ability of being able to create a design from a pure concept or idea, through to a finished working design. With a shipyard background also comes a deep understanding of creating a design to a fixed budget, weight and a fixed time scale. Ad Hoc Marine Designs Ltd uses this collective experience to provide real working solutions to a budget and a time scale.

John Kecsmar is the current Chairman of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects High Speed Craft committee.

Design Philosophy

With a pedigree of a working shipyard background, being trained on the shop-floor installs a ‘designed for production’ methodology and an understanding of the needs of production. This provides Ad Hoc Marine Designs Ltd with the unique ability of being able to create a design from a pure concept or idea, through to a finished working design. With a shipyard background also comes a deep understanding of creating a design to a fixed budget, weight and a fixed time scale. Ad Hoc Marine Designs Ltd uses this collective experience to provide real working solutions to a budget and a time scale.

In this day and age of high-technology and often over reliance on computer simulation, it is a shipyard back ground that fosters the notion of creating something from nothing. All design work is from first principals coupled with a vast database of real working solutions to validate the design concepts. This forms the foundation behind the approach taken by Ad Hoc Marine Designs Ltd.
